A recent
survey undertaken by Victoria’s leading blind supplier, The Blind
Factory, shows that Melbournians
aren’t all that creative when it comes to covering
their windows.
An
interesting statistic for The Blind Factory Director Brett Thomas, is
that over 40% of respondents have used a sheet or towel to cover a
window for an extended period of time (up to four years!).
“This
is probably the statistic that surprised me the most. I can
understand using a sheet or towel short term if you have a broken
blind or are in the process of washing curtains but four years is
such a surprise for the very style conscious and home proud
Melbourne,”
he said.
More
interesting blind style results from Melbourne:
- Although privacy is the key motivation for using window coverings, Melbournians can pat themselves on the back with nearly 75% of respondents aware that window furnishings are also a great source of insulation – and can save a household up to $250 in energy consumption each season.
- When it comes to window furnishing style, most first home buyers prefer blinds over curtains
- Most households still have curtains or roller blinds because over 50% of respondents didn’t choose their own window coverings – instead preferring to simply use what was already there.
- In the age of online retailing, Melbournians are not particularly savvy or convinced about DIY measuring and installing from an online order. 70% of people were not enthusiastic about trying online ordering.
- And the most anticipated answer of all - do people love or hate The Blind Factory ads with the catchy jingle? About 75% of people think they’re great or at the least – very memorable!
